EsadeCreapolis is an international business innovation park founded in 2005 by the ESADE Business School.

History

Early this decade concern originated at ESADE about the role a business school should play in the overall innovation system. At that time the embryonic concept of EsadeCreapolis was born and developed under the guiding hand of Francesc Santacana until its formal constitution in the year 2005 with the founding of the company that has become reality. The design combines the initiative and vision of ESADE in collaboration with the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), to provide a decisive step in economic and social development

From that moment and during the second quarter of the year 2006 construction was started and new institutional partners joined in order to play a key role in the development of the project. The Sant Cugat del Valles City Government and the Sant Cugat del Vallés Business Association in Barcelona, together with four savings banks, formed the promotional group led by ESADE. All partners have representation on the Board of Governors whose President is Pere Rifà and Vice President is Francesc Santacana. Construction requests of the park began during the first quarter.

The school returns to become a pioneer in leading the first international centre custom designed for companies to practise "open innovation", defined as the innovation of the future. The current business environment is globalized, constantly changing and intensive in knowledge, which conditions organizations’ competitive advantage and their capacity for innovation and constant renewal. Innovation with the most potential is less incremental and more cutting edge, drawing on collaborative models that combine knowledge and experience from many areas. The Creapolis ecosystem accelerates this innovation by making it truly profitable and geared to the market.
